THE IMPORTANCE OF ADMIRATION

THE IMPORTANCE OF ADMIRATION

“There is an innocence in admiration: It occurs in one who has not yet realized that they might one day be admired.” -Friedrich Nietzsche

We have been thinking a lot about what makes the engines at L’Artisan Muse turn. We are filled with gratitude and love knowing that we are serving our community, and for the month of February, which is also Black History Month, we are going to be talking about the things that keep us going: admiration, appreciation, affection, and adoration. And today it is all about admiration!

In this day and age of fast-paced technology, it might be easy to forget to tell people we admire them. But admiration and using our love languages is important to show people we care. It’s not only amazing for the person receiving the admiration but also great to feel the humbling sensation of gratitude

So how do we show admiration and how can we implement it more into our lives?

Where does admiration come from and does it give us a deeper meaning into ourselves as individuals? I think so.

I personally choose to admire people who give back to society or are making small and steady changes in big ways. People who donate continuously, can kick a bad habit and change their routine. That’s tough stuff to do! But, they say that admiration is our polite recognition of another’s resemblance to ourselves. And I believe that to be true. I see people making these changes and I see myself wanting to imitate that behavior or sometimes recognize that I have done that behavior as well.

And when I do recognize what I am admiring about someone is actually something I love in myself, I will sometimes even write it down or merely make a mental note. It’s not only important to notice positive attributes about others, but also yourself. After all, self-love is the fastest route to easily and continuously show love for others.

I think one of the biggest things we need to be conscious of in our day-to-day life to show more admiration, is to be present and aware. It’s so easy to get bogged down with our day to day life and responsibilities, that we forget to stop and admire the people and places around us. Life is about poetry and beauty. We need to take a moment more often than not, recenter ourselves and express deep admiration and gratitude for what surrounds us. In doing this small act of kindness, I believe we become better and more thoughtful in our day-to-day graces.

Have a great week y’all and don’t forget to stay present and show some admiration!

xoxo
